Every year the historic beauty spot of Kinsale is electrified by the best in art, music, spectacle, theatre, literature and family entertainment for nine sunny days in July. This year's festival will mark Kinsale Arts Week's fifth birthday and everyone is invited to the party. Whether you live in or around Kinsale or like to holiday here, 11 - 19 July 2009 promises to thrill.

Kinsale Arts Week Box Office Open

This summer we have a fantastic line up of the best in Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, Literature, Film, Street Events and Family entertainment. Highlights this year include Midsummer (a play with songs) from Scotland's Traverse Theatre Company, The Syrius Piano Trio at St. Multose Church, Man-Booker Prize winner John Banville, stand-up comic David O'Doherty with a show guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles and for the first time ever we will be screening a series of late-night outdoor films at the Kinsale College of Further Education Amphitheatre. Added to the ever popular Street Day and Family Day this year teenagers are invited to enjoy Teen Day. In Visual Arts we have commissioned two renowned artists to create new work for the festival. Brian O'Doherty will unveil a 'Fort Within a Fort' in Charles Fort  and Janet Mullarney will be responding directly to the out of use butcher's premises on Market Street for her latest body of work.

The choice for audiences this year is vast, as every nook and cranny of the town offers itself up as a hook for a painting, a stage for a song or a screen for a film.

See you there.
